CHRISTMAS OUTFIT STYLE GUIDE

Putting together timeless, classic, and festive (of course!) outfits for the family for Christmas can be somewhat overwhelming consider all of the options. What colours do we include? Should we be wearing patterns? Can we look formal (my answer to this is always yes!) In general, there are a lot of valid questions to have regarding outfits and more importantly, correlating outfits for your Christmas Studio Session. This is why I have put together an Outfit Style Guide for Christmas Sessions that will answer any questions you may have, and be beneficial to you and the family when preparing for your Christmas Photos in The Greenhouse Studio.

Please read below to view helpful tips to help you choose classic, correlating, and beautiful attire for your Family Christmas Session!

The Studio Setting

The Greenhouse Studio will take place in a dome Greenhouse, includeing natural light, a white boarded back wall, lush Christmas greenery, a white textured rug, touches of champagne, gold, and silver to add texture and character to the space. We will be including a neutral coloured couch (as seen in bottom right of the inspiration board). This setting with give you plenty of options in terms of colours when it comes to fitting with the space!

What to Wear:

COMPLIMENTING OUTFITS

Following a colour scheme is very important, but avoid matching each other completely. Choosing a festive colour scheme

MILD / FESTIVE COLOURS

Neutral colours are the a great option for your family. This includes white, cream, greys, gold, silver, black. If you choose to wear a festive colour such as red or green, I suggest accompanying them with neutral colours. This way you can include a beautiful festive colour, but there won't be any distraction from your beautiful faces!

SOLID COLOURS OR SUBTLE PATTERNS

Try to stick with solid coloured clothing (shirts, pants, dresses, etc.) This will give a timeless look for your photos. If you do include a pattern, choose one, and make it a complimentary addition to the outfits rather than the main foundation. Example: Have one or two of your children wearing a buffalo print, but do not have everyone wear the same pattern. Think of it as tying the look together!

TEXTURES & LAYERS

Wearing different textures and layers such as ruffles, knits, cardigans, flowy skirts & dresses, vests, etc. will really compliment your photos! I would recommend this over patterns.

What to Avoid:

FLORESCENT coloured clothing

bold stripes

distracting patterns

chunky watches & rubber bracelets.

COLOUR SCHEMES

Following a colour scheme is a useful and essential part of your Outfit styling for your session. Below are a few colour schemes that you can follow.
